As padel is growing in popularity, many PE teachers are enquiring about how they can get their students and/or schools involved.
Coaching and Certification
If you are a qualified PE teacher with access to a padel court at your school, we recommend connecting with us to find out about upcoming coaching training and certification programs. For those already certified by the Indian Padel Federation, we offer continuous training and update clinics. Please contact us at info@padelfederation.in for more information.
Visit a Local Club
Consider arranging visits to a local padel club where your students can book lessons. If you plan to bring a class without a coach’s assistance, please refer to the basic rules below to help guide your sessions.
Demonstrations by Coaches
We have a number of coaches available to visit schools and provide padel demonstrations. They will bring rackets, balls, nets, and give an overview of the game. To arrange a visit, please contact us at info@padelfederation.in.
Building a Padel Court
If your school is considering upgrading or building new sports facilities, we can provide information on the benefits of constructing a padel court. For more details, please visit our page on padel court construction.

Basic Padel Rules
The Indian Padel Federation (IPF)Â adheres to the rules set by the International Padel Federation (FIP). Here are some basic rules to get you started:
Format
- All play in padel is doubles format.
Scoring
- Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis.
Service
- Play begins with an underhand serve from the right service court diagonally into the opponent’s court.
- The server must allow the ball to bounce once before hitting it, and the ball must be hit below waist level.
- The serve must land in the opponent’s service box. If it bounces in the box and strikes the side or back wall, it is valid. If it hits the wire fencing, it is a fault.
- The server must keep at least one foot on the ground and may not touch or cross the service line during the serve.
- Servers have two opportunities to complete the serve.
Fair Play
- Court lines are in play only during the initial serve.
- Players can play the ball off any walls on their own side of the court.
Loss of Point
A point is lost if:
- The ball bounces twice on your side of the court.
- The ball strikes you or your teammate.
- The ball hits the wire fencing, posts, or any other fixture before landing in the opponent’s court.
Out of Bounds
- The ball is out of bounds if it hits the wire fence or walls before bouncing on the opponent’s side.
Overhand Strokes
- Players can take the ball out of the air except on the initial serve and the return of serve.
